Inspiration & Affiliations
Throughout my decades of research, teaching, and sharing of the Mantram Repetition Program, I have been inspired by and affiliated with the teachings of Eknath Easwaran (1910–1999), the originator of passage meditation and the author of 40 books on spiritual living.
Easwaran, originally from Kerala, India, was an English literature professor at a prominent Indian university before moving to the United States in 1959 as part of the Fulbright exchange program. Renowned for his teaching abilities, he transitioned from traditional academic education to focusing on education for daily living, spending 40 years delivering lectures on meditation and spiritual practices. In 1968, he introduced the first accredited meditation course at a major university, UC Berkeley.
In 1961, Easwaran established the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation in Tomales, California. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to sharing his teachings by publishing his books, videos, and audio lectures, as well as offering retreats and online programs.
My own work in developing the Mantram Repetition Program has been deeply influenced by Easwaran’s teachings and spirit. In the Resources section of this site, I share several options for further exploration and study.
