About Jill Bormann
Jill E. Bormann
Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N.
Jill Bormann is a Clinical Professor at the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science/Beyster Institute of Nursing Research at the University of San Diego. She is also a Research Health Scientist and a board-certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing. She has pioneered a program of research on health-related outcomes of the Mantram Repetition Program (MRP), a spiritually-integrated intervention for symptom management.
Jill received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD; Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas in Austin; and Ph.D. in Nursing from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System.
The Mantram Repetition Program: Mind-Body-Spiritual Approach to Symptom and Stress Management has been designated as a Raise the Voice: Edge-Runner by the American Academy of Nursing to recognize nurses who are leading the way with new ideas to transform the health system.
Jill received the Excellence in Research Award from the American Psychiatric Nursing Association (APNA) and International Society of Psychiatric Nurses (ISPN) in 2017.
